Robinson Racks Up 18th Double-Double in Win Over Bees

Deandrey Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) notched his 18th double-double of the season and the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team won for the sixth time in seven games in an 80-61 comeback victory at St. Ambrose JV on Sunday.
Robinson led all players with 20 points and 12 rebounds, with five of his boards coming on the offensive end. The 6-foot-6 sophomore is averaging a double-double for the season (17.8 points and 10.2 rebounds). He ranks 18th in the country in rebounds per game, and his 175 total boards are good for 13th nationally.
The Chargers (18-7), coming off a win Saturday against Kishwaukee, trailed 43-39 at halftime but outscored the Fighting Bees 41-18 in the second half.
Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Chargers, and James Jones (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) scored 11 off the bench. Freshman Noah Young (Colfax, Ill./Ridgeview) had eight point and five of Sandburg’s 20 assists.
The Chargers will host Black Hawk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for Sophomore Night. Sandburg’s five sophomores — Robinson, Tyler Dugan, T.J. Pendleton, Ben Stipp and Nick Hanner — will be recognized prior to the contest.
